Lewis R. “Rusty” Engler Jr., age 59 of Iuka, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his home. Lewis was born on January 2, 1962, in Centralia, the son of Lewis R. Engler Sr. and Ruth Ann (Reynolds) Engler. He is survived by his sister, Debbie Holsapple and husband Paul of Odin; brother, Randy Engler and wife Nita of Odin; nieces, Jeanna Finley and husband Adam of Muscle Shoals, AL, Jessi Knight and husband Johnny of Burlington, KY, and Jennifer Engler of Chicago; great nieces and nephews, Stacy, Zach, Carl, Hunter, Caleb, Nate, Gracie, Johnathan, and Jadyn; and one pug Lucy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Carrie Engler and John and Annie Reynolds; parents; one nephew, Ryan Engler; and his pug Daisy. Lewis retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer. He had pastored several local General Baptist Churches. He served in the United States Army, was a member of the N.R.A., enjoyed deer hunting, shooting guns, being outdoors, and motorcycle riding. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Paul Holsapple officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
