Sherri Gail (Wooden) Compton, age 63, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salem. Sherri was born on April 8, 1957, in Berwyn, IL to Charles Edward and Mary Jo (Baggett) Wooden. Survivors include her mother Mary Jo Wooden of Salem; two sisters, Vicky Marlow and husband Norman of Bakersfield, CA and Tammy Schoenwalder of St. Ann, MO; two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her father. Sherri graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a bachelor’s degree. She worked at the Smart Shop in Centralia and later was employed as a TWA Flight Attendant. Private graveside services for Sherri Compton will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Pastor Doug Meyer officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
