Obituary of Donna Lee Shoemaker

Donna Lee Shoemaker, age 81 of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Twin Willows Nursing Center. Donna was born on January 27, 1943 in Centralia, the daughter of Wayne and Alice Daugherty. She married Emmett Shoemaker Jr. on March 21, 1961 and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2014. Survivors include her children, Emmett (Doris) Shoemaker III and Bill (Denise) Shoemaker of Springfield, MO, Rhonda (Terry) Benjamin of Dix, Nancy (Ryan) Reeder and Mendy (Debbie Peddicord) Shoemaker of Salem; grandchildren, Nate, Ryan, Reva, Evan, Kelsey, Haylie, Gerett, Adam and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Jacie, Maddie, Ailey, John, Cherish, Raylan, Emma, Gage, Carter, Boyd, Ryker, and Kynslee; siblings, Brenda Robinson, Carol Arthur, Darrell Daugherty, and Norma Harrison.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Tori Benjamin; and siblings, Joe, George, Johnny, Don (her twin), David and Norman Daughtery and Joyce Miller. Donna was a member of First Baptist Church in Salem for many years. She retired from Murray Center after 37 years of service. After she retired, she volunteered as a Pink Lady with the Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years. Per Donna’s wishes she will be cremated with a service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Carmi Baptist Children’s Home, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Donor’s Choice and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
