Sean Garrett Wimberly, age 34 of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital. Sean was born on August 19, 1990 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Terry Eugene Wimberly and Cathy Lynn (Brewer) Johnson. Survivors include his parents, Cathy Lynn Johnson and husband Scott of Salem, and Terry Eugene Wimberly and wife Monica of Centralia; his daughter, Mya June Wimberly of Salem, siblings, Brooke Elizabeth Wimberly and significant other Easton Jones, Jacob Eugene Louis Wimberly and significant other Tara Hoeinghaus of Du Quoin, and Devon Alan Wimberly and significant other Chelsey Respondek of Salem; grandparents, Charles and Gayla Reid of Salem, and Virginia Wimberly of Salem; nieces and nephews, Declan, Truett, Sawyer, Waylon, Oaklynn, and Beau; and his girlfriend, April Taylor and her children, Morgan and Aden. He was also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Wimberly. Sean loved deer hunting and riding his Harley. He worked at Lander’s Automotive in Salem as a mechanic and tow truck driver. Celebration of Life services for Sean Garrett Wimberly will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Grace Church of the Nazarene at 7:00 p.m. with Trent Ice officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Sean’s daughter, Mya June Wimberly (with checks made payable to Cathy Johnson) and will be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
