Obituary of Mary E Dowdy
Mary E. Dowdy, age 64 of Iuka, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Centralia Manor in Centralia, IL.
Mary was born on June 13, 1960 in Germany, the daughter of Bernard and Twloa (Alewine) McCalla.
Survivors include her children, Robert McCalla and wife Elizabeth of Carbondale, and Rachel McCalla of Cobden; sisters, Shirley Galvin of Iuka, and Nancy Johnson and husband Moe of Anna; a brother, Bernard McCalla of Marine City, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Twloa, and her husband, Bernie Dowdy.
Mary was a devoted member of Woodlawn Church in Iuka where she was a member of the Mary Martha Ladies Group. She was an avid reader and crocheter. She had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs.
There will be no public services. The Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
