Basil E. Sullens, age 81 of Alma, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Salem Township Hospital in Salem. Basil was born on October 3, 1942 in Salem, Illinois the son of Russell Sullens and Zora Mae (Simmons) Frye. He married Janice Hope (Headley) Sullens on March 28, 1964 and she preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons, Dave Sullens, Daren Sullens and wife Donna, and Brad Sullens all of Patoka; several grandchildren; step mother, Norma Sullens of Michigan; brothers, Bob Sullens and Lavern Sullens; and a half-brother, Doug Sullens. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; brother, Bill Sullens; and a half-brother, Rusty Sullens. Basil began his career at the Brown Shoe Factory in Salem before moving on to General Tire, where he eventually retired. In his leisure time, he found pleasure in fishing. A celebration of life for Basil E. Sullens will be held at a later date. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
