Obituary of Dixie Joyce Murray

Dixie Joyce Murray, age 86 of Kell, passed away at Helia Healthcare on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Dixie was born on July 10, 1937 in Bugtussle, Kentucky the daughter of Davie and Ninnie (Ford) Dyer. She married Jerry Murray on August 23, 1986 at the Salem Lutheran Church and he survives in Kell. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Mark Howard and wife Gayla of Salem; daughter, Christie Rhodes of Salem; step-son, Tracy Murray and wife Jennifer of Patoka; step-daughter, Teresa Murray of Du Quoin; grandchildren, Erika Givens, Joshua Howard, Chase Landers, Taylor Dobyns, Jack Howard, Christian Lingle, Tyson Murray, Whitney Murray, Austin Mansker, and Rylie Mansker; and great grandchildren, Kiera, Madilynn, Davie- Ellen, Benjamin, Kitt, Ivy, Remi, Vivian, Aria, Joshua, Kruz, Khai, Kollyns, Chloee, Liam, Emmie, Lilliana, Jake, Macklin, Phoebe, and Hudson. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tracy Mahurin; grandson, Adam Jacob Rhodes; and 13 siblings. Dixie was a member of Evergreen Christian Church in Salem. She worked for over 30 years for Brown Shoe Company and retired as a supervisor. She enjoyed gardening, shopping in thrift stores, and spending time with her family. A Celebration of Life for Dixie Joyce Murray will be held at Noon on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Shannon Bopp officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Disabled American Veterans and can be received at the funeral home.
