Mont Ritter, age 98 of Kinmundy, passed on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Odin Health Care Center. Mont was born on February 14, 1922 in Marion County, Illinois the son of Ora and Ruby (Mulvany) Ritter. He married Velma “Willadene” Shaffer on November 1, 1941 in Centralia, Illinois. Willadene preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons: Larry Ritter and wife Phyllis of Kinmundy; Keith Ritter and wife Wilma of Kinmundy; Allen Ritter and wife Karen of Xenia; Kevin Ritter and wife Becky of Heyworth; sister, Ida Smith of Salem; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings, Stella Mulvaney, Francis Hubert Ritter, Neva Yates, Laurel Monroe Ritter, Melvin Eugene Ritter, Anna May Ritter, and Morris Lee Ritter; and 4 great grandchildren, Chase, Payton, Keira, and Jaiden Engel. Mont was a farmer for many years. He also worked at World Color Press, the Salem Sale Barn, Kinmundy- Alma Elementary School and Radiac. He was a faithful member of the Brown Christian Church in Kinmundy where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher for many years. Mont also served on the Omega Township Board. Funeral services for Mont Ritter will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday September 17, 2020 at the Brown Christian Church in Kinmundy. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the Phillips Cemetery in Kinmundy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Phillips Cemetery and can be left at the Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
