Mrs. Betty Jo Canon, age 80 of Salem, a faithful servant of the cross made her journey home on February 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was faithful, fighting all the way to the end. Born on July 7, 1943, in Lunsford, Arkansas, Betty was the beloved daughter of Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Zada (Massey) Ballentine. In September of 1999, she exchanged vows with Mr. Neal Canon in Paducah, Kentucky, embarking on a journey of love that spanned 24beautiful years. Betty's memory will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Neal Canon, of Salem; her loving children, Lisa Rosch of Flora and Steven Howle of Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, Autumn Kincheloe of Salem and Rachel Miller of Virginia; great grandchildren, Tiarra Kincheloe and Liliauna “Jayden” Kincheloe both of Salem and Bryndon Kincheloe of Alton; step-grandsons, Matthew R. Canon of Salem and Timothy Cannon and wife Anne of Gulf Shores, Alabama; step great-grandchildren, Kayla Canon, Cole Canon, Chayse Canon, and Macy Canon; her brother and sister-in-law, Susan Reiman and R. John Reiman Jr. of Nashville, TN; niece, Natalie Reiman of Chicago, Illinois; and cousin, Ron Massey and wife Kaylynn of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Betty is preceded in death by her parents. Betty Jo accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age at the First Baptist Church in Lundsford, Arkansas. Betty excelled in everything she did.  She lived life to the fullest. She was a deacon’s wife and had a 27-year career with the Bank of America in Salem before retiring. Betty loved and supported Southern Gospel music. Betty sang for many years in a local music group called “Rejoice” during the 1990’s. Betty was an avid collector of fine jewelry, purses, and shoes, she enjoyed shopping wherever, especially with her granddaughters. She was an excellent housewife and enjoyed working with the flowers in her yard. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Salem.  She enjoyed bowling, and was always just an all-around happy, vibrant, woman during her early years. But most of all, Betty had an unwavering loyalty to her family. Family meant everything to Betty, up to her very last day. Betty will be very deeply and sadly missed by family, and all who knew her. Rest in Peace, Betty. We will meet again. See you at the table. We love you always.    Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Betty Jo Canon will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Salem First Baptist Church, with Dr. Andy DeWitt and Pastor Roger Lipe officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place the following day at Jonesboro Memorial Park in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Salem First Baptist Church or the Salem Ministerial Alliance, with donations being received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
