Velma Mae Jones, age 83 of Xenia, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora, Illinois. Velma was born on May 2, 1940 in Orchardville, Illinois the daughter of Hubert “Okie" and Edith (Ferguson) Henson. She married Dale Edward Jones on May 5, 1961 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She is survived by her husband, one son, Robbie Jones and wife Gina of Flora; one daughter, Tammy Marvel and husband Brad of Clay City, two brothers: Gerald Henson and wife Nancy of Johnson City, and Arthur Henson and wife Loretta of Ohio; and one sister, Pat Helm and husband Don of Salem, along with four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Lyndell Henson. Velma was a housewife. She loved music. Funeral services for Velma Mae Jones will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Rick Forth officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to the Flora VFW and will be received at the funeral home.
