Obituary of Shirley Ann Hogge

Shirley Ann Hogge, age 84 of Salem, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Centralia Manor. Shirley was born on September 12, 1939 in Salem, the daughter of Delbert and Marian (Onhiser) Rogers. She married William Hogge and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her five children, Terry Crain and wife Laura of Salem, Karrie Wetherall and husband Mark of Plainwell, MI, Michael Crain and wife Jennifer of Ridgetop, TN, Michelle Linder and husband David of Iuka, and Crystal Schroeder and husband Damon of West Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert Rogers Jr. and Elmer Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Robert Rogers. Shirley was strong in the Christian faith. She was always willing to care for anyone in need, whether that was a family member or friend. She worked many jobs in her life, including, being a floor lady at Brown Shoe Company, cook at Twin Willows and Salem Township Hospital, a Mental Health Technician for Murray Center, and an overall caregiver. Spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, brought her great joy. She was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. Her huge heart, beautiful smile, and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral service for Shirley Ann Hogge will be held at Noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Ronald Linder officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s; Association and can be received at the funeral home.
