Richard R. Ford, age 79, of Salem passed away on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at Salem Township Hospital. Richard was born on November 19, 1939 in Alma, IL to George and Grethel (Sullens) Ford. He married Ruth A. (Duke) Ford on August 11, 1958 in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Salem. Survivors include his wife, children, Gena Jones and husband Curt of Kinmundy, Alan Ford and wife Donna of Salem, and Jana Powless and husband Rusty of Alma; sisters, Judy Mulvany of Salem and Donna Jackson of Springfield; grandchildren, Alison and husband Daniel, Nick and wife Mallory, Abbey, Michael and fiance Karly , Ashley and husband Curtis, Nathan, Noah and Katie; great grandchildren, Ollie, Elijah, Noah, Natalie, Parker, Isaiah, Kaysen, Jonah, Esme and Anderson. Richard was preceded in death by his parent, three sisters, Fern Bernhardt, Betty Gottfried and Bernadine Ford and a brother Kenneth Ford. Funeral services for Richard Ford will be held on Saturday May 18, 2019 at 10:30 am at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home with Roger Findley officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
