Woodrow W. “Jr” Hoard Jr., age 84 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Woodrow was born on November 16, 1938 in Flora, IL the son of Woodrow Wilson and Mabel Marie (Nash) Hoard. He married Geraldine “Gerri” (Lammers) Hoard on December 29, 1971 in Salem and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2001. He is survived by his children, Rick Hoard and wife Becky of Salem, Gary Hoard of Ankeny IA, Linda Bierman and husband Mike of Centralia, Cheri Davis and husband Shannon of Centralia, Cathy Jourdan and husband Faron of Dix, Jay Logan and wife DeeDee of Bloomington, Sherry Hays and husband Larry of Salem, Christopher Logan of Salem, and Stacey “Dani” Probst and husband Jason of Watson; 28 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Thomas Hoard and wife Darlene of Kinmundy, Patricia Owen and husband Charles of Kinmundy, Wayne Hoard and wife Tammy of Arizona, and Benny Hoard of Flora. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Marla Williams; daughter-in-law, Joan Hoard; sisters, Caroline Maxie and Rosetta Baylis; brother-in-law, Larry Baylis; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hoard. Woodrow worked in the oil fields, he had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated employee. He served his country in the United States Air Force, was active in the Moose, Elks and the Odd Fellows. A Memorial Service for Woodrow W. “Jr” Hoard Jr. will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
