Obituary of Iva V. Niehaus Jett Burgess
Iva V. Niehaus, Jett, Burgess passed from this life on Friday, November 25, 2022 in St. Louis, MO at her daughter’s home with family by her side.
She was born in rural St. Peter, IL. October 1, 1929 to Louis and Alma (Wachholz) Niehaus and was one of nine siblings. Raised in St. Peter, IL until the age of fourteen at which time she moved to Salem
for work.
She married Leonard Jett on February 8, 1947, which later terminated in divorce. She married Neil K. Burgess on August 4, 1972 and he preceded her in death January 15, 2007.
Iva worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Salem until the plant closed. Then she drove and managed school bus routes for the Salem Public School District. She and Neil traveled throughout the United States on various vacations every summer and after retirement more frequently.
Survivors include daughter, Karen Campbell of St. Louis, MO., son, Charles (Wanda) Jett of Champaign, IL., step-daughters Cheryl (Bob) Thomas of Robbinsville, NC., Carla Stransky of Vernon, IL. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, infant daughter Ellen, husband Neil Burgess, son-in-law Russ Campbell, step son-in-law Glenn Anspach, step-daughter Cindy Anspach.
Celebration of Life services for Iva Burgess will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 at Crouse Funeral Home 403 S. Broadway in Salem, IL. with Rev. Charles Jett officiating. There will be visitation prior to service from 10:00am until Noon. Interment at Poplar Creek Cemetery, Orchardville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Ministerial Alliance Fund and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
