Obituary of Joe Tate
Joe Tate, age 78 of Centralia, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home.
Joe was born on February 17, 1944 in Marion County the son of Ora and Bernice (Moyer) Tate. He married Sharon J. (Lusch) Tate on December 31, 1970 in Kell and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2014.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Tate and wife Sandra of Centralia and Bill Tate and wife Beth of Centralia; 2 daughters, Kim Kapczynski and husband Ian of Alabama and Amanda Draper and husband Justin of Salem; grandchildren, Scott Tate, Chelsea Kapczynski, Steve Tate, Alexia Karr, Isaac Tate, Hannah Tate, Jase Kapczynski, Skyler Whitcomb, Naomi Draper, and one on the way, Toby Draper; one sister, Martha Jane Tate of Centralia; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and siblings, Elaine Pitts, Jean Foltz, and Charles “Bud” Tate.
Joe was a member of the Youngs Chapel Christian Church. He served his country in the United States Army. Joe worked for Homemaker Sports Line, Tate’s Truck Line and Maco Elevator. He attended barber college and worked for Stan’s Barber shop in Dix. He enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, Andy Griffith, MASH, feeding and watching ducks and geese, spending time outdoors, but mostly spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Crouse Funeral Home is Salem. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Centralia, with military rites by the Salem American Legion. There will be a visitation on Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
