Obituary of Forrest Neal
Forrest “Bud” Neal, age 85 of Kinmundy, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Bud was born on January 16, 1935 in Kinmundy the fourth of five children of Fenton and Goldie (Henke) Neal. He married Mary E. Cripps on September 11, 1965 at Romine Church of the Brethren and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2019.
He is survived by three children, Lisa Hanks and husband Dewey of Kinmundy, Tammy Krutsinger of Flora and Jill VanHyning and husband Ben of Xenia; grandchildren, Emily Hanks, Jamie Winters and husband Jamison, Devin Krutsinger, Ryan Krutsinger, Shani Quarton and husband Eric, Morgan Tolliver and husband Trey, Mitchell VanHyning, Brady VanHyning and Miley VanHyning; great-grandchildren, Quinn Elizabeth Quarton, Benson Tyler Tolliver and baby Quarton on the way; three sisters, Stella Munds, Maxine Drechsel and husband Leroy, and Velma Riemenschnieder and husband Harold; and one brother Clarence Neal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmer and Blanche Cripps; brothers-in-law, Richard Munds and Bill Jones; and sister-in-law, Velma Neal.
Bud was a lifelong member of Brown Christian Church and trustee for the Phillips Cemetery. He worked at Radiac Abrasive in Salem, along with the sale barn. He enjoyed raising cattle, pigs, any type of poultry, rabbits, dogs, cats, and a pony. His life changed drastically in February of 2019 when he lost his wife. He stayed at home for many months until he moved to Cedarhurst of Centralia. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was passionate about the upkeep of Phillips Cemetery and would ride his “buggy” there several times each day.
Private funeral services will be held at Brown Christian Church with Seth Schnautz and John Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery in Kinmundy. Memorials can be made to Phillips Cemetery or the Donor’s Choice and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
