Obituary of James E. Hunter
James (Jim) E. Hunter, 72, of Salem, Illinois, passed away March 23, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was a retired farmer and retired offset pressman from the former World Color Press plant in Salem. He graduated from Salem Community High School and attended Kaskaskia College. He was an active member of Odin First Christian Church. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-uncle who adored his two young grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing and socializing with friends over the years at the former Starlight Restaurant and McDonald’s. He loved helping when he could with projects for United Medical Response. He will be dearly be missed by his family and friends.
A private cremation will be held, and a celebration of life service may be announced at a future date. In light of current conditions in our country the family asks for no visitors, food, flowers or gifts. Prayers for our Country are appreciated.
He was born November 3, 1947 in Salem, IL. He was survived by his loving wife of 45 years Marilea Hunter (Young) and son Jace Hunter of Salem, IL; son Jared Hunter and his wife Justine Hunter and their children Victoria E. Hunter and Theodore James Hunter of Salem, IL; four brothers William Hunter, Gerald Hunter, and Michael Hunter of Salem, IL and Jeffrey Hunter of Sarasota, FL; mother-in-law Ruth Young of Odin, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parent’s Wayne Hunter and Geraldine Hunter of Salem, IL and father-in-law Glen Young of Odin, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odin First Christian Church and may be left at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
