Omer G. Chitwood, age 81 of Salem, passed away on December 25, 2020 at Centralia Manor in Centralia. Omer was born on January 5, 1939, the son of Paul O. and Florence Essie (Ward) Chitwood. He married Ellen Johnson on November 24, 1963 in Salem and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2015. Survivors include his children, Tina Chitwood and husband Mike Meyer of Centralia, Dedra Wagoner and husband Gary of Effingham, Alan Chitwood and wife Cindy of Salem, Theresa Chitwood of Omega, and Trevor Chitwood and wife Katrina of Salem; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Sue Daniels and husband David of Greenview, IL, Betty Clonts and husband Raymond of OH, Paul Chitwood and wife Eileen of Salem, and Margie Pollard and husband Dick of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Omer worked as a farmer and later worked as a realtor and sold insurance with AFLAC. He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the Youngs Chapel Christian Church. Graveside services for Omer G. Chitwood will be held at 10 am on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Rusty Courson officiating.
