Obituary of Jimmie Roy Cook
Jimmie Roy Cook Sr., age 68 of Iuka, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
Jimmie was born on July 22, 1950 in Flora to Lewis R. and Mildred Pauline (Cannon) Cook. He married Shirley (Halfacre) Cook on May 4, 1979 in Xenia and she survives in Iuka.
In addition to his wife, Jimmie is survived by his three children, Tina Willman of Iuka, Scott Keller and wife Regina of Louisville and Marsha Gaston of Iuka; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gilbert Edward Cook; four sisters, Loretta Pauline Peddycoat, Elizabeth Eunice Dieckmann, MaryAnn Kristie Kelly and husband Mike and Abbie Kay Best and husband Bill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jesse E. and Wanda L. (Payne) Halfacre; son-in-law, Chuck Willman; brothers, Lewis R. Cook and Thomas Archie Cook; sister-in-law, Mary Cook; brother-in-law, Don Dieckmann; and a nephew, Jason Roy Cook.
Jimmie served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 10:30 am at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem with Doug Romine officiating. Military rites will be at the church by the Salem American Legion. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 at the church. Memorials can be made to Missions Salem and can be received at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
