Obituary of Joye D Lyons
Joye D. “Joe” Lyons, age 80 of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Lebanon Health Care Center.
Joye was born on December 26, 1939 in Oskaloosa, Illinois the son of Hiram and Stacey Leo (Krutsinger) Lyons. He married Jacqueline Kinnaman on August 7, 1965 and she survives in Alma.
He is also survived by his two daughters, Kim Eblin of Salem and Tamara Purcell and husband Luke of Salem; grandchildren, Shae Lowry and husband Bryan of Belleville, Samantha Eblin, Grace Purcell and Grant Purcell all of Salem; great-grandson, Mikel Lowry of St. Louis; sister, Joan Webster of Salem and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jack Lyons, Robert Lyons, Reta Mundy, Lois Patton, Phyllis Pendle and twin sister, Joyce Lyons.
Joye was a laborer for Central Laborers’ out of the Salem Local for over 30 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and had a bountiful garden that he took pride in. Some of his favorite hobbies included collecting toy tractors, fishing, restoring lawn mowers and visiting his friends and family. He could always bring a smile to your face with all of his stories. Joye knew no stranger.
There will be no public services held. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
