William C. “Chuck” Weems, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Thursday March 18, 2021 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Chuck was born on March 9, 1941 in Salem, Illinois the son of William Roy and Opal Louise (Lankford) Weems. He married Lena (Molenhour) Weems on May 22, 1964 in Iuka, Illinois and she survives in Salem. Survivors include his wife, Lena; children, Scottie Leroy Weems of Salem, Donna Sue Capps and husband Mark of Farina, and Jesse Dale Weems and wife Nancy of Germantown; grandchildren, Emily and Evan Capps and Mason and Miah Weems; brothers, Arthur Eugene Weems and wife Millie of Texas and Jesse Issac Weems of Salem; and a special nephew, William Jesse Weems of Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Arminda Rose Stence, Esther Pearl O’Dell, and Juanita Darlene Weems. Chuck worked as a heavy equipment operator for the local 520. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Salem where he was the Sunday School Director. He served as a Military Police Officer in Puerto Rico in the United States Army. Chuck was an avid hunter and fisher. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Funeral services for William C. “Chuck” Weems will be held on Sunday March 21, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Crouse Funeral Home with Gary Davenport and Sean Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Centralia. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
