Obituary of Doris Virginia Wooden
Doris Virginia Jones Wooden, age 90 passed away at 8:30 am on Monday May 27, 2019 at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born near Janesville, Kansas on August 24, 1928 to William Martin and Ida Jane (Ramsey) Jones. She married Harvey Eldon Wooden on October 10, 1948, and her preceded her in death. The Wooden's lived in Salem, IL for many years. They had one child, Virginia Hall and she survives in Mt. Vernon with her husband Clyde Hall.
Doris was a homemaker, and she provided childcare services while living in Salem. She was a member of the Salem Trinity United Methodist Church, and worked in the Sunday School Nursery there. Doris also served as a Girl Scout Volunteer in Salem and was a member of United Methodist Women. She enjoyed crocheting and Shirley Temple films.
Survivors include, her daughter, a granddaughter, Brittany Hall Koenegstein and husband Drew of Dix, a great granddaughter, Ella Koenegstein of Dix, sister in law, Mary Milner and family of Texas, and brother in-law Bert Wooden and family of Mt. Vernon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Roberta Wahsburn, Hilda Doreen Etchison, Inez Fain, and Geneva Hall, and by one brother Donald Jones.
Graveside services for Doris Wooden will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:30 am at Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Pastor Lynette Ann Deatley officiating. Memorials can be made to the Family and left at the funeral home.
