Gary Butler, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Doctors Nursing and Rehab in Salem. Gary was born on August 12, 1939 in Omega the son of Burley and Helen (Sawyer) Butler. He is survived by his four children, Barri René Boyles and husband Tim of Texas, Gary Thomas Butler and wife Laura of Indiana, Bradley Butler and wife Nancy of Indiana and Timothy Jon Butler and wife Rebecca of Texas; half brothers, Michael Butler of Ohio and Phillip Butler of Ashley; 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Burley Butler; mother, Helen Chamblis; step father, Fred Chamblis; sister, Betty Jo Drumgold; and a granddaughter, Ashley. Gary was a member of the Pentecostal Church. He loved people. Gary worked for AAA Auto Insurance and was the top salesman in a three-state area and was a newspaper salesman for the Belleville News Democrat. In his early working years, he worked for Bracy’s Food Store and was a meat cutter. Private Graveside Services will be held on Friday at Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Larry Woodward officiating.
