Virgil Merle McKinney, age 95 of Salem, passed away on July 10, 2020 at Salem Township Hospital. Merle was born on October 14, 1924 in Xenia, the son of Samuel Ernest and Eva Belle (Martin) McKinney. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy McKinney; granddaughter, Wheat Jackson and great-granddaughter, Wren Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Eva Merlene; two sisters, Pansy and Mable; and an infant brother. Merle was a longtime member of Salem First Baptist Church. He served in World War II in the United States Army. He owned and operated McKinney Motor Sales for many years. He had previously worked as a new car salesman for Bitzer Auto and Dick Williams Auto Sales. Funeral Services for Virgil Merle McKinney will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 10:30 am at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Dr. Andy DeWitt officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery with Military rites accorded at the grave by the Salem American Legion. Memorials can be made to the Salem First Baptist Church and can be received at the funeral home.
