Duane served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a conductor for the C&EI, Missouri Pacific, and later Union Pacific railroads. He received a certificate from Kaskaskia College in small engine repair. He could fix anything and get it running again. He was a HAM radio operator and an avid CB radio enthusiast. He was a member of the Salem E.S.D.A. for many years. Duane never met a stranger and even if he didn’t have a dime to his name, he would do anything he could to help somebody.
It was Duane’s wish to donate his body to science. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Kaskaskia College Sports Association and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
