Steven Arthur Brazel, age 64 of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Monday December 28, 2020 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Steven was born on July 25, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Robert Arthur and Opal Pearl (Weems) Brazel. Survivors include his daughter, Amy Brazel of Joliet; granddaughter, Kailey Hulihan of Joliet; uncle, Charles Weems of Salem; and multiple cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randall Gene Brazel. Steven served in the United States Army. He worked at Brown Shoe Company, where he was the Union President. Then he worked as a truck driver for Hogan Transport, and most recently at the Walgreens Distribution Center for over 20 years. Funeral services for Steven Brazel will be held on Sunday January 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Claude Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Bell Cemetery in Iuka. There will be a visitation held on Saturday January 2nd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Rites will be accorded at the grave by the Salem American Legion.
